Back pain comes from different sources. These sources could be skeletal, muscular, and neurological disorder. In my experience, it is important for clinician to recognized the dysfunction and identify the possible source of back pain.
I have seen patient that comes to the clinic that has suffer back pain ranging from one month to three years old. I have tried manual therapy, and exercises with great success, however there were percentage of the back pain patient that partially respond to any form of treatment. In my observation, difficult back patient have something in common. These patients experience back pain for more than two month, negative imaging pathology and experience pain during early forward bending or backward bending. Our clinic has two ATM2 unit, we have set the standard of treating difficult patients.
Our treatment approach have change our mindset that the ATM2 solve the mystery of treating difficult back pain patient. ATM2 is a unique piece of equipment that would instantly re-activate the core muscle of the back and a must for every clinician that treat back pain.
Since the clinic owned two unit of ATM2, the last one was bought this year 2006. I was fully convinced of the amazing outcome of our back pain population. It was a complementary approach in back pain management with my manual therapy training (Maitland, Paris, and Mulligan).
The patients were amazed themselves that they can bend forward and touch their toes without pain.
The ATM2 have further improved our success in managing back pain. The ATM2 concept really works on re-training muscle activation of the lumbar spine. It works every time to my patients and no more pain on first visit.
