I have a wall mount ATM in my golf fitness studio. For the past year I can honestly say this is one of the single most important pieces of equipment I can share with my clients.
Primarily I work on upper spinal mobility and hip rotation. Keeping the thoracic spine mobile is paramount. With the pelvis fixed into a secure neutral aligned position one can groove the motor pattern of shoulder hip separation with ease and in a functional weight bearing position. Internal hip rotation is my next area to address because again this movement is so important so the golfer can load onto the trailing hip and coil around it during the backswing. The lead hip internal rotation is also just as important to post and turn onto allowing the hips to face the target during follow through. Limitations in these areas will usually cause the lower back to compensate for the lack of movement adding more stress to the lumbar spine. Concentrating on these areas in the ATM2 my clients have improved their range of motion in their hips and Thoracic spine. The ATM2 improves sport performance in golf hands down.
I had a lady this morning in tears with sciatic pain. After aligning her pelvis (left was rotated anterior) and doing some forward flexion (previous movement impairment) eliminating the pain f/b interventions she walked out pain free. She couldn't believe it. She was afraid to move in case she jinx it. I have asked her to write down her experience in her own words.
